Sticker sizing and proportions — Q&A + FAQ
Measure stickers accurately without stretching artwork or confusing sheet and liner dimensions.
If my logo is wider than it is tall, how is a 3-inch sticker measured?
For our cut-to-shape sizing, the selected dimension refers to the longest side of the artwork. A wide logo ordered at 3 inches will normally be about 3 inches wide, with its height reduced proportionally. It will not be stretched into a 3-by-3-inch square.
Why did my uploaded artwork become shorter when I changed the sticker width?
The builder maintains the artwork's aspect ratio. If you increase or decrease one dimension, the other changes with it to avoid distorting the design. If you need a different overall shape, change the layout or surrounding background rather than squeezing the logo.
Can my 5-by-3-inch design fit a 3-inch sticker offer?
Yes, if the artwork remains readable when its longest side is reduced to 3 inches. At the same proportions, the other side would be approximately 1.8 inches. Review tiny lettering at the finished size before approving the preview.
How do I measure an irregular sticker shape accurately?
Measure the widest and tallest points of the finished cut shape, not just the printed lettering in the middle. An outline with a long tail, point, or border can set the overall bounding size. Check the final dimensions displayed in the builder or proof.
Can you make the printed design larger without making the sticker itself larger?
Often, by reducing unnecessary background or border space and moving the cutline closer to suitable parts of the art. A small safety offset may still be needed for a clean cut. Ask for a layout review before approval instead of assuming the outside size changes automatically.
Should I measure a label before or after accounting for a rounded bottle?
Measure the usable area on the actual bottle, including the section that curves away from view. A flat measurement around the entire container can overstate the space where a design remains readable. Test a paper rectangle at the proposed size first.
Why does a long business name look tiny on a small round sticker?
A long line of text must fit within the circle's narrow central band. Even if the circle measures 3 inches across, the lettering may be much shorter in height. Try stacked text or a different sticker shape to give the name more room.
What should I do if my artwork is tall but the product preview looks horizontal?
Confirm the artwork orientation and whether the builder is displaying the backing or the printed cut contour. Re-upload the correct orientation or request a Manual Proof if the placement cannot be resolved. Do not rotate a logo by stretching its proportions.
How much empty space should I leave around a logo before uploading it?
Remove excessive canvas space that is not part of the intended sticker, while keeping enough room for any requested visible border and cut contour. Tell us whether blank margins are intentional. Otherwise the preview may use the canvas boundary instead of the artwork silhouette.
What happens if I request dimensions that would distort my artwork?
We aim to preserve the original proportions. If the requested width and height conflict with the artwork ratio, choose whether to keep the full artwork with additional background, redesign the layout, or accept one dimension changing. Stretching the logo is not the recommended solution.
Should a sticker be sized by the design or by its release liner?
For most cut-to-shape orders, focus on the finished sticker dimensions shown in the product configuration. A kiss-cut item's liner may extend farther than its face, while sticker sheets have an overall sheet size and individual peelable designs. Check which measurement the listing uses.
