What are cut-to-shape stickers?
Cut-to-shape stickers follow a custom outside contour instead of a fixed circle or rectangle. They're a popular choice for illustrated characters, logos, product art, and band merch. We still need an appropriate cutline, safe area, and enough room around delicate edges. Build your design on our Cut to Shape Stickers page.
Can you print a photograph as a sticker?
Yes. Printed stickers can reproduce photos, artwork with gradients, and other full-color images. Send the original, highest-resolution file available, and choose a size that makes sense for its pixel dimensions. A tiny social-media image may not remain sharp when enlarged.
Can custom stickers have gradients and shadows?
Yes. Full-color printed stickers are the better option for gradients, soft shading, realistic images, and artwork with multiple tones. Those effects usually cannot be preserved in a traditional single-color cut vinyl decal without redesigning the art.
What is a die-cut sticker?
A die-cut sticker is a finished sticker cut around a chosen outer shape. That outline may follow a logo, illustration, or a simpler contour. The exact backing and cut-depth construction depends on the purchased product, so don't assume that every item described as die-cut is prepared the same way.
What does kiss-cut mean?
A kiss cut cuts the sticker face while keeping the release liner in place underneath. This makes the design easy to peel from a larger backing and is common on sticker sheets. The backing may be larger than the finished sticker design. See our Sticker Sheets.
What is the difference between die-cut and kiss-cut stickers?
Die cut usually describes the finished outside outline. Kiss cut describes cutting the sticker material without cutting all the way through its liner. Those terms answer different questions, so confirm the finished shape and backing style rather than choosing based on the words alone.
Can I order round stickers with my own logo?
Yes. Circle stickers are a simple choice for branding, labels, team giveaways, and packaging. Keep important wording away from the circular cut edge, and make sure your logo remains readable at the selected diameter. See our custom sticker collection.
Can I order square or rectangular custom stickers?
Yes. Square and rectangular printed stickers are useful for business labels, instructions, artwork, and packaging designs with straight edges. Some product options offer rounded corners as well. Choose the exact dimensions based on the space where the sticker will go.
Are clear stickers actually transparent?
The clear film provides a transparent surrounding area, but printed artwork and the appearance of colors can change depending on the surface underneath. A white box within a flattened artwork file does not automatically become transparent. For important transparency or opacity requirements, ask us to review the file before production. Explore our Clear Stickers.
Why do colors on clear stickers look different on dark surfaces?
A transparent base allows the surface color to influence the way printed artwork appears. A design that looks vivid on white may look different on tinted glass or dark packaging. If opacity is important, discuss the exact artwork, viewing surface, and available construction with us before ordering.
Can you make a white border around my sticker?
Yes, a visible white border is a common finishing choice for printed stickers on a white base. A border helps separate detailed artwork from the cutline, especially at small sizes. It must be part of the approved design and should not be confused with bleed or the cutting guide.
Can you cut a sticker right against every tiny detail?
Not every tight corner or tiny recess is practical at every size. We may round sharp points, add a small offset, or recommend a simpler contour so the sticker cuts cleanly. These adjustments protect the finished product without changing the central identity of your design.
Can I make small stickers with very detailed artwork?
Often, yes, as a printed sticker. Tiny text and fine linework still need to be readable at the actual finished size, even when the source file is sharp. If a design has too many fragile cut-in details, a printed sticker with a simpler outside contour is usually a better solution than a tiny one-color decal.
Can you print different designs in one sticker order?
We can help with projects containing multiple designs, but quantity and pricing depend on how the designs are configured in the chosen product. Do not assume that one quantity selection automatically includes unlimited unique images. Contact our team with the number of designs and quantity of each for the right setup.
Can I order stickers without laminate?
Vinyl Disorder offers some unlaminated sticker options, but availability and suitable uses depend on the product. Laminate changes the finish and can add protection for compatible constructions. Compare the available product details and our Laminates & Finishes guide.
Are vinyl stickers waterproof?
Many vinyl sticker constructions resist ordinary water exposure, but the full performance depends on the selected base, ink, laminate, adhesive, application surface, and conditions. Waterproof should not be treated as a universal promise about washing machines, dishwashers, soaking, or every cleaning chemical. Choose the product based on its intended use.
Can I put Vinyl Disorder stickers on a water bottle?
A compatible printed vinyl sticker can work well on a clean, smooth bottle surface. Allow the adhesive to bond according to its instructions, and avoid assuming the sticker is dishwasher-safe or suitable for prolonged soaking. A high-contact bottle may benefit from an appropriate protective laminate.
Can stickers be used outdoors?
Many outdoor-appropriate vinyl constructions can be used on clean, smooth surfaces such as vehicle glass, finished signs, and metal. Choose a suitable base and finish for the amount of sun, moisture, and abrasion expected. Outdoor suitability and longevity are material-specific rather than universal.
Can I add a QR code to a custom sticker?
Yes, but make the code large enough and use strong contrast, ideally dark code elements on a clean, light background. Extremely small or ornate QR codes can fail to scan after printing. Test the artwork at finished size and consider ordering a sample; scanning is not automatically verified before production.
How should I size a sticker for packaging?
Measure the usable flat space on the package, including curves, seams, and where the label will be handled. Choose a design that fits without forcing tiny text against an edge. For jars, pouches, or boxes, the most practical dimensions often depend on the exact packaging shape.
