Storefront windows and perforated graphics — Q&A + FAQ

Specify window viewing side, adhesive side, perf, cling and storefront visibility.

How do I order business-hour lettering that reads from the street?

Provide the exact wording, line breaks, finished area, and where the decal will be attached. State 'readable from outside' and whether application is inside or outside the glass. Those are separate choices that must be confirmed before production.

Can I use an ordinary sticker to make inside-mounted storefront lettering?

Not necessarily. An inside-mounted sign viewed from outside needs the right adhesive-side and reading orientation, and any tint or coating matters. Mirroring the artwork alone does not change a sticker's adhesive construction. Confirm the supported option before ordering.

What does one-way-vision window perf actually mean?

Perforated window film combines a printed face with many small openings through the material. Under favorable lighting it can show a graphic from one side while allowing some view through from the other, but it is not guaranteed one-way privacy in every lighting condition.

Why does window perf become less private at night?

The brighter side of a window tends to be easier to see into. When indoor lights are on and it is dark outdoors, the balance changes. Window perf should not be promised as complete privacy or as a replacement for a designed privacy system.

Can a window graphic cover the entire pane of a storefront?

That depends on local rules, visibility needs, the actual glass, and installation restrictions. Measure the clear area around frames, hardware, and doors. Do not assume covering safety markings or required visibility is permitted.

Should a QR code go on storefront glass at eye level?

Put it where a person can stop safely and scan without blocking a walkway or entrance. The code needs adequate size, contrast, and a stable destination. Test it from the actual standing position and through any glass or film involved.

Can static cling replace adhesive decals for seasonal window promotions?

Cling can be useful for short-term messages on compatible smooth glass, but it is not identical to permanent adhesive vinyl. Temperature, cleaning, mounting side, and how often the graphic is moved affect suitability. Test before a large seasonal rollout.

How do I avoid reversed wording in a glass-door logo?

State the viewing side in plain language and supply an example of the correct readable result. Check the mockup from that reader's viewpoint before approval. Distinguish artwork mirroring from adhesive-side or print-layer choices.

Can I use clear vinyl for a logo on privacy-tinted storefront glass?

Potentially, but small details and dark colors may lose contrast. Test the design against the exact tint in both daylight and indoor lighting. If the result is not readable, consider a supported opaque or cut-lettering alternative.

Will a decal leave a shadow or ghost after removal from glass?

Glass can reveal a difference between areas exposed to sun, dust, and cleaning and areas covered by film. Adhesive residue is also possible. Follow the correct removal method for the glass and any coatings, then clean carefully.

What details should I send for a storefront graphic quote?

Include glass measurements, photos, mounting side, viewing side, tint or coatings, intended duration, number of panels, design files, and the date you need the project finished. That information helps select a practical construction and scope.

Glass and window project decisions

How can I check whether a window logo will be readable from the sidewalk?

View the proposed logo from the same distance and angle customers will use. Contrast against the actual glass, reflections, tint, and what is visible behind the window matters as much as the design color. A full-size paper mockup taped in position can reveal readability issues before printing.

Should a storefront QR code face inward or outward?

That depends on who needs to scan it. For passersby, the code must read correctly from outside; for customers inside, it needs to face inward. Identify the intended viewer and confirm orientation, contrast, scan distance, and a working destination before production.

Can a single window graphic cross the gap between two glass panels?

A mullion or physical gap interrupts both the artwork and the installation surface. It is usually better to plan the graphic as separate sections aligned across the gap, with measurements for each pane. Send a straight-on photo and pane dimensions so we can help assess the layout.

Can window perf artwork use tiny lettering that reads from across a parking lot?

Very small lettering can lose impact when printed on a perforated material and viewed from a distance. Strong, simple graphics generally work better. Test the layout at its real viewing size, and do not rely on a digital proof to show exactly how holes and lighting will affect readability.

What should I check if a storefront has a glass coating or protective film?

Confirm what is already applied to the glass before adding vinyl. Surface treatments and films can affect adhesion, removal, and what happens to an existing coating. When in doubt, obtain the glass or film supplier’s guidance and test a small sample rather than treating every window as bare glass.
