Magnets, clings, and non-adhesive display options — Q&A + FAQ
Compare magnets, static cling and temporary signage by surface and use.
Is a custom magnet the same as a vinyl sticker with stronger adhesive?
No. A magnet uses magnetic material to attach to compatible ferrous metal, while a sticker relies on adhesive. The right choice depends on the surface and whether you want to reposition or remove the graphic.
Will a custom magnet attach to aluminum or plastic?
Not on its own. Standard magnets need an appropriate magnetic metal surface; many aluminum, plastic, stainless-steel, and composite panels are not magnetic. Test the exact surface with an ordinary magnet before ordering.
Can I use a magnet on a stainless-steel refrigerator?
Some stainless-steel doors are magnetic and some are not. Test the actual appliance with a household magnet before ordering. Even when it holds, be careful with dust and grit between the magnet and the finish.
Should I remove a vehicle magnet before a car wash?
Follow the magnet product's care instructions and the car wash operator's guidance. High-pressure washing and moving brushes may dislodge a removable magnet. Clean both the vehicle and magnet regularly to reduce trapped debris.
Can I print an intricate full-color logo on a custom magnet?
A printed magnet can generally reproduce more color and shading than a traditional single-color cut decal. However, small text still needs to be legible at the finished size. Select a suitable contour and material according to the current magnet listing.
Can I move a static cling promotion from one window to another?
Sometimes. Keep the film clean, avoid folds and scratches, and follow the product's handling instructions. Reusability depends on condition and the second surface. Test the application rather than assuming repeated moves are guaranteed.
Will a white static cling graphic be transparent?
No. White cling has an opaque-looking white base, while clear cling is a separate construction. Choose based on whether you want the window to show through the background and from which side the graphic must be read.
Can a magnet be used on a painted powder-coated door?
Only if the underlying material is sufficiently magnetic and the finish allows safe use. A thick coating can affect grip, and debris trapped behind the magnet may mark the paint. Test first and follow care instructions.
Is a magnet better than a sticker for temporary business signage?
On a compatible steel surface, a magnet offers easy removal and repositioning. On glass, aluminum, wood, or plastic, it may not hold at all. Temporary adhesive stickers, clings, or separate signs are alternative constructions with different limitations.
Why might a large custom magnet need a longer production schedule?
Large magnets use different stock and finishing steps from ordinary small printed stickers. Specialty formats can also need extra handling. Confirm the current estimate for the exact size, quantity, and material rather than using the sticker turnaround as a promise.
Can a magnet go on the curved side of a vehicle?
Strong curvature, body contours, seams, and airflow can affect how securely a magnet contacts the panel. Evaluate the actual vehicle surface and follow the magnet-specific placement rules. Do not assume every panel is suitable just because it is metal.
