Fonts, vectorization, and artwork recreation — Q&A + FAQ

Prepare cut-ready letterforms, reconstruct logos and preserve original identity.

Why do you ask for an SVG, AI, or EPS file for cut lettering?

Vector paths let the cutter follow intentional shapes instead of guessing from fuzzy pixels. They also help the art team inspect small interior spaces, overlaps, and thin strokes before production. A sharp PNG can still be useful as a visual reference.

What if I cannot remember the font used in an older logo?

Supply the highest-quality version of the logo you have. We can assess whether the lettering can be reconstructed or whether a close substitute would change the brand's appearance. For exact results, the original font or vector artwork is best.

Why does outlining fonts prevent missing-font problems?

Outlined text becomes vector shapes rather than depending on a particular font being installed. This preserves the visible letterforms when the file opens elsewhere. Keep an editable copy with live text for your own revisions.

Can you trace a logo from a photograph taken at an angle?

We can review it, but perspective, blur, lighting, and compression can distort proportions. A careful vector reconstruction may require straightening, rebuilding shapes, and confirming spacing against a reliable reference, rather than simply clicking auto-trace.

What happens if a customer sends a logo with jagged edges?

We can evaluate whether it can be cleaned or recreated. Sharpening a low-resolution file alone cannot restore missing shapes. Simple logos are often easier to rebuild as clean vectors; complex illustrations may require separate artwork work.

Why is a layered PSD useful for some sticker projects?

Layers can keep design elements separate so a color, background, or cutline can be adjusted without repainting the entire image. For multi-sticker sheets, clear layer organization also helps communicate separate peelable pieces.

What should I do if my Illustrator file contains linked photos?

Include the linked assets or package the project so nothing is missing when the file is opened. A PDF export can also help show the intended appearance, but keep editable vector paths for any required decal cuts.

How can I keep the hole inside a letter P during vector cleanup?

Treat the interior counter as a separate open shape and verify it remains open after compound paths are built. Check the vector at the smallest intended cut size, since a narrow counter can close visually or become difficult to weed.

Can you recreate artwork without changing the wording or brand identity?

That should be the objective for a technical cleanup. Provide a reference that shows the correct proportions, exact wording, spacing, and colors. Request smoothing, vectorization, or cut-readiness rather than a redesign, and inspect the proof before approving.
