How to apply 24 x 48 cornhole wraps with squeegee and trimming guide

Installing a standard 24" x 48" cornhole wrap is one of the easiest ways to give your boards a fresh custom look. We also offer a 36" x 24" full wrap option, but this guide focuses on the 24" x 48" size since that is the most common full-board wrap size. Whether you are covering blank boards, refreshing older boards, adding team artwork, or building a full branded game set, a full board wrap gives you edge-to-edge coverage with one clean printed piece.

Important install note: We do not cut the hole out before shipping on the full board wraps. The hole is left covered so you can line up the full design first, apply the wrap cleanly, and then trim the hole to the exact opening on your board. This is especially helpful because board sizes and hole placement can vary slightly.

Why the Cornhole Hole Is Not Pre-Cut

Every board can be slightly different because of handmade construction, sanding, coating, wood movement, or small measurement differences. If the hole were pre-cut before the wrap was installed, even a small shift during application could make the opening look off-center.

Leaving the hole uncut gives you more control. You can apply the full wrap, smooth it into place, trim the outside edges, and then cut the opening using the board itself as the guide.

Tools You Will Want Before You Start

Before applying your wrap, set everything up on a clean workspace. A little prep makes the whole install smoother and helps avoid bubbles, crooked placement, and rough trimming.

Clean cloth: Wipe dust, oil, and loose debris from the board surface.
Painter's tape: Helps you line up the wrap and create a temporary hinge.
Squeegee or felt edge card: Used to press the wrap down evenly.
Sharp utility knife: Needed for trimming the outside edge and hole opening.

Step 1: Clean and Prep the Board

Make sure the board face is clean, dry, and smooth. If the board is freshly painted, stained, sealed, or clear coated, make sure the surface has fully cured before applying the wrap.

Remove dust from sanding, wipe off oils, and make sure there are no raised bumps or sharp debris under the vinyl. Anything left on the surface can show through or keep the wrap from laying flat.

Step 2: Align the Wrap Before Peeling

Lay the wrap over the board with the backing still on. Check the top, bottom, left, and right edges before you peel anything. Once it looks straight, use painter's tape to create a temporary hinge along one edge or across the top.

This gives you a guide point so the wrap does not drift while you start the application.

Step 3: Peel Slowly and Squeegee the Wrap Down

Start at the taped hinge area and peel back only a small section of the liner. Use your squeegee to press the vinyl down with firm, even strokes. Work slowly across the board and keep the backing close to the surface as you go.

Use overlapping squeegee passes and push any air toward the outside edges. Taking your time here is what gives the wrap that smooth, clean finished look.

Step 4: Trim the Outside Edges

After the wrap is fully applied, trim any extra material around the outside of the board. Use a sharp utility knife and let the board edge guide the blade. Go slowly around the corners so the wrap follows the board cleanly.

Step 5: Cut the Cornhole Opening After the Wrap Is Applied

Once the wrap is applied and the outside edges are trimmed, locate the hole by gently feeling for the opening through the vinyl. Use a sharp utility knife to make a small starter slit near the center of the covered hole.

From that starter point, cut outward toward the inside edge of the opening. Then carefully follow the inside rim of the board opening until the vinyl circle is removed. Keep the blade controlled and pointed into the opening, not outward across the top surface.

After the hole is cut, smooth the vinyl down around the inside edge with your finger or a soft squeegee edge.

Install tip: Do not try to cut the hole before applying the wrap. Install first, then cut the opening using the board as your guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Vinyl Disorder cornhole wraps come with the hole already cut?

When should I cut the cornhole hole?

Cut the hole after the wrap has been fully applied and smoothed down.

Can I use a full board wrap on an existing board design?

Yes, full board wraps can be used to cover blank boards or older board designs as long as the surface is clean, dry, smooth, and ready for vinyl.

What if I only need a small logo on my board?

If you only need a logo or smaller design near the bottom of your current wrap, choose the custom cornhole board sticker instead of a full wrap.
